This is the third part of the series giving advice on living with a woman. Be sure to check out the first two parts called: Rules of Engagement and Moving in With Your Girl? What to Expect. Now for the third and final part: Television Shows You Can Watch with Your Girl.
One challenging aspect of living with a woman is agreeing on a television show to watch. Most free nights I have involve my fiancé and I sitting on the couch, flipping through the channels. I want to watch the ball game, she wants to watch Project Runway.
This can create a conflict of interest. You want to spend time with your girl but you want to watch the shows that interest you. DVR has helped but the problem still arises from time to time. So in an effort to combat this problem here’s a list of the top shows to watch with your girl.
5. TWO AND A HALF MEN: (Mondays, 9 pm on CBS)
I don’t watch this show on a regular basis but when I come across it I usually watch it and have a good laugh or two. According to the ratings, however, many people do watch it on a regular basis. The show is near the top of the ratings every week. Two and a Half Men is also on syndication now, so there are plenty of opportunities to watch it. It’s also one of my fiancés favorite shows.
4. BRIDEZILLAS: (Sundays 9 pm on WEtv)
As a man, you may not think this show would be entertaining, but you’d be wrong. Sometimes I watch this show by myself. I’m always amused watching these spoiled, bitchy bride-to-be’s abuse every vendor and bridesmaid in their path. The groom is usually a tool who lets his girl walk all over him, which adds to the entertainment factor.
It’s enjoyable watching the train wreck that ensues and I always feel better about my relationship knowing I’m dating someone who isn’t a psychopath. Girls love this show because it involves weddings and they’ll watch any program involving a wedding. Now if you still don’t believe me, just take a look at this clip and I guarantee you’ll change your mind.
3. TONIGHT SHOW WITH CONAN O’BRIEN: (Weeknights, 11:35 pm on NBC)
If you are a reader of this site than you know how much I love Conan. He’s a comedic genius. Now that he’s on an hour earlier, there’s a good chance you and your woman will be lying in bed, watching TV together at this time. At 11:30 there aren’t too many good options that can compete either. My fiancé and I watch Conan just about every night before bed and it’s a great way to end our day.
2. EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND: (Airs on all different times and stations depending on where you live)
Although this show ended its run a few years back, the re-runs are still worth watching. Many nights after work I will turn on TBS and my fiancé and I will laugh hysterically throughout the entire episode. The reason is that both men and women can relate to the issues on the show. Who can’t relate to crazy parents, or a sibling rivalry, or the constant struggle to make your woman happy, or on the flip side, constantly dealing with an idiot husband?
1. LOST: (Wednesdays, 9 pm on ABC)
This is one the greatest shows of my lifetime. I honestly never met anyone who doesn’t like this show. I’m always recruiting new fans, lending out my season one DVD to friends who inexplicably have never seen an episode and I never fail to get someone hooked. Lost touches on many universal themes such as redemption, love and guilt. The writers, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, are geniuses and never fail to keep you guessing and wanting more.
The show also appeals equally to both men and women. For the men, there’s violence, time travel and Evangeline Lilly. For the women, there are love triangles, family drama and Matthew Fox. If you haven’t seen any episodes, you can watch most of them online. If you have Netflix you can also stream the first four seasons through your Xbox 360.
