Rap Lyrics Translated for White People: Volume 6

It’s time for another version of the LWB staple, Rap Lyrics Translated for White People! Recently, other sites have tried to duplicate this feature but they have failed to match the quality that a fairly unknown, sparsely updated blog focused on men’s lifestyle, can provide. I won’t link to those lame sites here since I don’t want to give them free publicity. But in the words of Jay-Z, whose lyrics are translated in this post, “for playin’ me, y’all shall ever remain nameless.”

Check out translated songs from Ludacris, Jay-Z, Three Six Mafia, Foxy Brown and Flo Rida below… (more…)

America’s Love/ Hate Affair with Tim Tebow

TebowingThere might not be a bigger story in the NFL this season than Tim Tebow. Since taking over as the starting quarterback of a 1-4 Denver Broncos team, Tebow has led Denver to five wins in its last six games and put the team in the middle of the playoff hunt.

But that’s only part of the reason why Tebow is the talk of the NFL. Tebow is such a polarizing figure that just about any casual fan has got to be intrigued by him. Fans seem to either love him or hate him and just about everyone has a strong opinion on him.

I find myself fascinated to see how each Broncos game turns out (and its only partially because he’s on my fantasy team). Prior to Tebow starting, the Broncos were one of the more boring teams of the year. Now the Broncos are near the top of the list of games I want to see each week.

So what exactly makes this guy so fascinating? (more…)

Unintentionally Funny Local Commercial: Great Neck Nissan

Great Neck Nissan PicIt’s time for another edition of Unintentionally Funny Local Commercial—the original LWB feature where I find commercials that are so bad they are actually funny.

Today’s commercial comes from Great Neck Nissan.

Joe Valentino, the owner of Great Neck Nissan, is really excited to tell people how they can get FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS CASH if customers find a better deal.  In fact, he’s so excited that he’s going to continue to scream about it throughout the duration of this commercial.

Like a Black Eyed Peas song, this commercial will stick in your brain for hours to come.  His voice, if played continuously, would probably make detainees at Guantanamo Bay talk.  Once you hear him yelling about FIIIIIIVE HUNDRED DOLLAHHS CAAAASH you will not be able to get it out of your head.  Don’t say I didn’t warn you.  Check out the video. Living with Balls is Two Years Old!!

Yup. It’s time to bust out the Fudgie the Whale cake once again. Living with Balls is officially two years old!

Two years ago, I wrote this lame intro. A day later I wrote my first “real” post, which talked about how to separate chores when living with a woman. 277 posts have gone up since then and somehow I’ve managed to keep motivated writing new posts despite slow growth. There’s a fine line between persistent and stubborn and I’m probably hovering right on the border. Though the progress has been slow, it’s been consistent since the start and that gradual growth keeps me going.

Let’s hope year three is a good one for Living with Balls. If you’re a fan of this site and want to get me something, just go tell a friend how much you like it here.

Here are some notable facts from the past year… (more…)

One of These Days Someone Will Buy a T-Shirt

A few months ago I decided to create the official Living with Balls t-shirt. I designed this shirt with two goals in mind: 1. To make a few bucks off the sales of t-shirts and 2. To increase brand awareness of Living with Balls (gotta find a way to apply my business degree somehow).   I was hopeful, though not optimistic, that I would at least sell a few of these shirts.

I uploaded the design on Printfection on September 29, 2010.  It is now March 22, 2011 and not a single person has bought a shirt.

I’m beginning to give up hope that anyone will ever buy a shirt.  I really don’t think it’s every going to happen.  In fact, I’m so confident that no one will buy a t-shirt that I’ve come up with a list of other unlikely scenarios that are more likely to occur before someone actually does purchase a shirt.  Here they are…

Happy Birthday to Living With Balls!

A year ago today, I wrote this uninteresting post and Living with Balls was born. 198 posts later, it’s still alive and kicking.

A lot has changed since that first post. My initial plan when starting this blog was for it to be more of a men’s magazine. I’d write the occasional funny piece but I’d also write reviews, give advice and write sports analysis.

Then it occurred to me that I really don’t like writing about anything serious. Also, my “funny” posts were doing way better than the posts where I gave out shitty advice or wrote a boring review—and with a name like Living with Balls, how could anyone take anything I wrote seriously? So I gradually transformed it to a humor blog for men and that’s where it stands today.

I’ll admit it. My main motivation a year ago was to make a little side cash off this site. It occurred to me pretty quickly, however, that making money off a blog would not be so easy. I’ve realized that making some real coin from this blog may never happen. I’m ok with that because I also didn’t know how much I’d enjoy it. So I’ll continue to write and if I make some money off this site, then great! If not, I’ll still continue to work hard at making it better each day. (more…)

LWB Takes a Break

Living with Balls LogoLiving with Balls will be taking a short hiatus. I will be unable to post new content for the next two weeks. Don’t worry. I will return with plenty of fresh, knee-slapping content later this month.

In the meantime, if you need your LWB fix, I suggest going through the archives (which can be found on the right-hand side) and reading some of my older posts. Some of my best stuff was written very early when only my wife was reading this blog.

If you’re too lazy to do that, then check out the Best of LWB Section, which features the most popular posts from the past year.
